Today, British Crime meets author Katerina Diamond. I’m very happy for that! We’re here on a talk about books and lets start with the first question: Who was the biggest influence in your life?
The success of many books published in this period was partly due to the change in marketing tactics. Previously, novels such as The Castle of Otranto were promoted through single reviewers, who would often give a mixed review. The new system was that of mass-marketing, using multiple retailers and multiple reviewers with a range of backgrounds; this led to more uniform and less biased reviews on the part of the reviewers.[24] Such marketing schemes were not without their critics. This particular approach to selling fiction continued throughout the Victorian era (1837–1901), and into the Edwardian era (1901–1910).
