She took the glass and stared at it, the strong drink with the smooth golden luster that reminded her of her mother’s skin, her own smooth sweet flesh. She took a delicate sip, aware of its soupy smoothness sliding over sensitive taste buds. She gulped it down, feeling it burn every moist inch of her throat, leaving a bitter aftertaste on her tongue.
