Soil is a natural body consisting of the particles that occur naturally on earth’s surface. Soil consists of minerals in addition to organic matters. It can be divided into two types: (1) Soils and (2) Mineral soils. Furthermore, it can be divided into two categories: i.e. Igneous Soils and Sedimentary/Metamorphic Soils.
Plant roots grow down in search of water and nutrients. The mass of roots below the soil’s surface is called the root system . The root system is composed of both fine roots (diameter of 1 to 2 mm) and coarse roots (diameter greater that 2mm). Production and longevity are characteristics of an individual root.
