The Authorized Version of the Bible: also known as the King James Version or simply the KJV, is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England, begun in 1604 and completed in 1611. First printed by Robert Barker, the king’s printer, in London on 22 August 1611 (see [1] ), it was the third translation into English to be approved by the English Church authorities; the first had been the Great Bible commissioned by King Henry VIII (1538), and the second had been the Bishops’ Bible of 1568.
