The mind is a fascinating thing. It is the origin of both human nature and, in turn, human culture. Cognitive science brings together all the people and ideas studying these phenomena, with the aim of understanding cognition – that is, thinking, feeling and acting – better. Cognitive scientists investigate how the brain works and what cognitive processes are like from a first-person point of view. They study thoughts and feelings as psychological phenomena, in the same way as one studies chemistry or physics.

The cognitive science essay is the task to describe and analyze the factors that influence our behavior and thinking. The cognitive science is a framework for understanding human thought processes and its motive remains for all eras, so the relevance of this task does not decrease with time. Our paper will be devoted to the analysis of works of A.N. Leontyev, N.A. Bernstein and other representatives of cognition area.

The following handbook is based on the course Cognitive Science (advanced level) of the University of Valencia, or UPC. The final objective of this handbook is to be a transitory tool for students to develop a minimal toolkit and a general background in Cognitive Science, which includes concepts, theories and findings that are part of this discipline.
