This is a post about the Winchester Model 12 shotgun. The Winchester Model 12 is a slide-action shotgun with an external hammer and tube magazine, manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company from 1912 until 1964. This manual contains a complete set of instructions for operating this gun.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with a new shotgun I got. It’s the classic Winchester model 12. For those who don’t know anything about this shotgun; it’s certainly worth getting to know. I’m going to cover the history, model variations, features and also give you a rundown on putting some shells into the ceiling once you get your hands on one.
It’s a nifty firearm. I haven’t carried this gun in years but I remember it being very accurate and reliable — very much like the heavier cruiser models, but with a lower boreline. If you’re not familiar, each line of Browning 12s has its own personality and advantages. The standard “Wand” is really quite long in the grip, and this is one of the shortest versions. Here’s a chart to compare them:
